Postgraduate Certificate in Psychedelic Integration Therapy

Program Overview

The Fluence Postgraduate Certificate in Psychedelic Integration Therapy is a 120 hour program of study with a flexible, modular schedule. It includes an application for admission, 5 learning components, individual mentoring, monthly program meetings, and a review process prior to graduation.

The Certificate Program is designed to prepare licensed clinicians to provide PIT in the course of their clinical practice. The Certificate is not a license or authorization to practice therapy in itself, but a course of study covering key elements and experiences, providing exposure to mentors and leaders in the field, and introducing participants to a peer group for ongoing professional support and development. The certificate program includes introductory material to the elements of PIT, a strategic overview of relevant clinical research and theoretical literature, experiential training with non-drug contemplative practices, and weekly small-group sessions for in-depth exploration of case material. The program includes some elements that can be completed online, but cannot be completed without the in-person experiential training. Some elements of the program are eligible for Continuing Education or Continuing Medical Education credits.

Application:

The Postgraduate Certificate program begins with an application. The application includes basic information about the applicant, their professional background, and existing experience. It also includes opportunities for applicants to present their intentions for joining the program, their values, goals, and aspirations. Applications are submitted online with a $50 application fee. The application fee covers review of the application and is non-refundable.

Once submitted, the application will be reviewed by the Fluence admissions committee. Committee members will interview the applicant. The committee will review and come to a decision on the approval and admission of the applicant within 4 weeks of receipt. Additional Fluence training team members may be consulted for input during this process, and any team members’ existing relationship with the applicant may be taken into consideration. Once a decision has been reached the training coordinator will provide the applicant with an acceptance, deferral, or refusal letter.

Program Cost:

Applicants who are accepted will be invited to matriculate into the CPIT program. Joining the program requires payment of a Program Fee of $7,975, payable in 12 monthly installments.

The Program Fee includes Certificate Program enrollment, Online classroom and discussion board, Individual Mentoring meetings, Monthly Program Meetings, interim and final Certification Review, and 5 Learning Components (listed below), which must be within 1 year. Fees for any travel, lodging, meals at retreat programs, and CE or CME, are not included. If you have already taken some of the learning component courses a credit will be given for course fees for up to two learning components taken within 18 months prior to matriculation. (Note: this pricing information was revised on 9/23/20 for the purpose of simplifying our registration process and does not reflect a change in program cost.)

Learning Components:

The five Learning Components of the Certificate Program are:

  • Psychedelic Integration: Premise and Promise (Formerly called Psychedelics 101 & 102 for Clinicians) in-person or online, 2 or 3-day intensive, or retreat version;
  • Psychedelic Integration Experiential Training Retreat for Clinicians;
  • Integration Essentials 14-week Reading and Study Group (RSG);
  • Another 12-week RSG of the applicant’s choosing;
  • One 12-week session of the Clinical Consultation Group (CCG).

Certificate program trainees must complete 3 of the 5 components after acceptance to the program. The other two Components may have been completed no more than 18 months prior to application and admission to the program. If an applicant has completed more than 2 components prior to admission into the program they will be asked to repeat or complete an additional component so that they have 3 between admission and completion. All trainees must complete a knowledge assessment after Psychedelics 101 & 102 and are evaluated on the learning objectives of both RSGs, and CCG by the instructor.

Mentoring:

Trainees will be matched to an Assisting Trainer for individual mentoring. The mentor and trainee are expected to meet between 4 and 8 times, starting within 1 month of enrollment and no less than once per month thereafter. Mentors will provide feedback to the training team periodically, and can determine after no less than 4 sessions that the goals of mentoring have been met. Mentoring may continue for up to 8 monthly sessions. If the goals of mentoring are not met with 8 mentoring sessions, further evaluation of the trainee’s progress will be done.

Monthly Program Meetings:

All currently enrolled certificate program trainees are invited to attend a monthly online program meeting. The meeting will be conducted by one of the trainers on a rotating schedule. The meeting’s purpose is a general discussion of topics relevant to the trainees and for community building among the trainees. Attendance is not mandatory (due to potential schedule conflicts), but is highly encouraged.

Certification Review:

When the trainee has completed all of the learning components and mentoring sessions, they are to submit a formal Certification Review request. The graduation request includes a personal reflection essay and a plan for continuing professional development. Certification Review requests are reviewed by a review committee consisting of 1 Fluence Lead Trainer and 2 Assisting Trainers, who will not be the Trainee’s mentor. Review process will include feedback from the mentor and all Fluence trainers who have had interactions with the Trainee. Upon the committee’s determination that program learning objectives, knowledge, competencies, and experience have been successfully met, the Certificate will be issued.
